Does the 6 week holidays feel like 6 years, already running out of activities that don't involve lots of expense?
Here are few little tips I'd like to share with you.
There are lots of free tennis courts in Harlow - look out for cheap tennis and badminton racquets in the pound shop. Head off to the courts, expend some energy and keep boredom at bay.
Take advantage of the vouchers on the Nestle Cereal Boxes - we used the pool at the Swallow Churchgate for nothing...nice pool - shame about the changing rooms. Don't take my word for it, go have a look.
Check out the Harlow Museum for cheap activities - mainly arts and crafts - perfect for just grabbing them (the kids that is) shoving them in the car just to get them out of the house when things get fraught.
If the weather is fine, use the paddling pools at the Normal Booth, Sumners etc.
Don't forget the Wild Read. I like this one because they get a certificate and a medal, the certificates are presented in the assembly at school - always a boost to their esteem.
Try making some play dough. Here is a tried and tested method.
1 cup of plain flour
1 cup of salt
1/2 cup of vegetable oil
1 cup of water
food colouring
2 teaspoons of cream of tartar.
Stir it all together till smooth. cook on full in the microwave for 4 mins, removing every minute to stir. Allow to cool. For added sparkle add some glitter. Keep in an airtight container. Lasts for ages.
